Air Fryer Breaded Pork Chops

A crispy pork chop dinner without a lot of oil and the hassle of frying? Sign us up! This is another moment when the air fryer shines, creating tender pork chops with a crunchy coating in a few short minutes and without all the oil. A quick dip in cayenne-spiked flour, then egg, then Parmesan-infused breadcrumbs, gives these chops a fabulous crust after about 12 minutes in the air fryer.

These air-fried pork chops would be great with Herb Mashed Potatoes, Colcannon, Easy Cheesy Rice with Broccoli, or Stewed Tomatoes.

Breadcrumb Variations

I decided to use regular dried breadcrumbs in this recipe for a light, crunchy crust. You can also use panko breadcrumbs. Or, if you want more of an Italian vibe, you can use Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs. Make sure to press the pork chops into the breadcrumb mixture at the end of the coating and dredging process so the breadcrumbs stick and evenly coat the pork chops.

Kitchen Smarts

You can also use gluten-free breadcrumbs if that’s a need (make sure to use gluten-free flour as well!).

Cooking Tips

  • If you want to brine your pork chops before air frying them, you will have the extra assurance of tender, juicy pork chops. Even 30 minutes in a brine can help the pork chops stay nice and moist. Discover all you need to know about how to brine a pork chop.
  • A quick spritz of cooking spray on the breaded pork chops encourages crispness and browning.
  • If you have an olive oil mister or sprayer, you can use that instead of the cooking spray.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Pork Chops

  • Boneless pork chops – If you have an extra 30 minutes or so, brine the pork chops.
  • All-purpose flour
  • Cayenne pepper – You can add more cayenne if you want more heat.
  • Egg
  • Milk
  • Breadcrumbs – See above for breadcrumb options.
  • Parmesan cheese – Freshly grated is best.

How to Make Crispy Breaded Pork Chops in the Air Fryer

  1. Prepare the pork chops: Brine the pork chops if you have time; if not bring them to room temperature. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels or a clean dish towel.

  1. Prepare to dredge the pork chops: In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In a second shallow bowl, combine the egg and milk. Then, in a third shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and Parmesan. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.
  2. Bread the pork chops: Dredge the pork chops in the flour mixture, then dip them in the egg mix, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, dredge them in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the chops down into the crumbs so that they adhere to the pork and coat it evenly.
  3. Air-fry the pork chops: Spray both sides of the pork chops with cooking spray or olive oil and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer, without touching. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, until the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees using an instant-read thermometer. Remove the pork chops from the air fryer and serve hot.
