What's In This Post?
A Bit About Me
I live in New York City, and I have two somewhat-grown sons who, thank goodness, really miss my cooking and so visit regularly. Cooking has been my lifelong passion — partly self-taught, partly learned from thousands of cookbooks and amazing chefs, and a lot from my mom. Even though I have cooked for years, both for personal and professional reasons, being in the kitchen cooking for friends and family is still my number one happy place.
I’ve written two cookbooks, The Mom 100 Cookbook and Dinner Solved!, which focus on accessible, adaptable recipes for real-life cooking. I’ve also been the Food Columnist for the Associated Press for over 10 years, writing hundreds of articles that reach hundreds of thousands of home cooks all over the country.
I love cooking with what’s in season, I embrace shortcuts like canned beans and store-bought pie crust, and I believe the best meals are the ones shared with people you love — even if someone picks out the capers.
I’m also a passionate advocate for hunger relief, serving on the boards of City Harvest and Share Our Strength. Because good food should be a joy — and a right.
