Watermelon Strawberry Smoothie

The dog days are over. If you make one icy smoothie drink this summer, it should be this refreshing and colorful one.

  • 2 cups frozen watermelon chunks
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 ½ cups orange juice preferably fresh
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup crushed ice
  • 1 tablespoon agave or honey or simple syrup or more to taste (see Note), or to taste


  • Place the watermelon, strawberries, orange juice, lemon juice, ice and agave or honey in a blender. Process until blended and thick. Serve in glasses with straws.


Making Simple Syrup

Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat and cool completely. The simple syrup will keep in the refrigerator for at least 1 month.
