The perfect side for a Mexican meal.

Two spoons in a bowl of Romaine Salad with Queso Fresco.

This crunchy salad with queso fresco is a great side to make when you need an accompaniment to a Mexican or Tex-Mex dinner, such as enchiladas, tacos, or burritos. Queso fresco is a mild, slightly tangy, creamy yet crumbly cheese that adds a fresh note to dishes. It can be found in the cheese section of the supermarket, or in stores that carry a lot of Hispanic ingredients. It should not be confused with Queso cotija, which is a dry, aged, crumbly Mexican cheese, more akin to Parmesan.

Try this simple salad with Grilled Mexican Ribeye Steaks, Ropa Viejo, or Pork Carnitas.
