It’s time to start thinking about holiday presents, which I happen to love, love, love to do. And because I also happen to love food and cooking, naturally I think along the lines of food-centric gifts for the people on my list. Here are some family-sized, family-style food presents that I will be sorting through this year for the people on my list….
Gifts for the Breakfast Lovers
Stonewall Kitchens makes a slew of fantastic products, and if the first meal of the day is the one the gang most looks forward to, then you will find a PERFECT gift for them here. You might go for the Stonewall Kitchen Pancake Sampler, the Favorite Jam Collection, the Grab and Go Breakfast Gift Set, or the Berry Breakfast Gift Basket.
Gift for Those Who Like It Hot
The name says it all. I’m getting this for my boys.
Gifts for Ice Cream Lovers
Because we all wish every day was sundae. An assortment of Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge, Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge, Extra Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge, and Classic Caramel. Also make up a batch of Chocolate Peanut Cornflake Crunch to give with your sauces. If you’re feeling particularly magnanimous, you might pair this with a selection of Graeter’s Ice Creams.
Gifts for the Meat Lovers
Calling all carnivores, and loudly. If you know a family who thinks a meal at a great steakhouse is the be-all, end-all of dinners, then send them some restaurant-quality aged beef to sizzle up at home from this 102-year old Omaha-based company, known for its excellent quality meat. The meat comes frozen, so the receiver can stash them away for the right moment. Choose from all kinds of ssteak and assortments, such as the Omaha Steaks Classic Combo Pack, Private Reserve Ribeyes, Bacon-Wrapped Filet Mignons, their list of offerings is pretty vast (and extends beyond beef as well). Or just send over an Omaha Steaks Gift Card and let them do the choosing.
Gift for the Nut-Lovers
From the nut experts at Oh! Nuts. A big box filled with jumbo cashews, pecans and filberts all freshly roasted and slightly salted, as well as pistachios pumpkin and sunflower seeds and other assorted crunchy goodies. A great food gift that will last a long time.
Gift for the Nibblers
This is one hell of a present. This colorful, jam-packed gift box will make a food-loving family feel very special, as they sort through the pile of pate, terrines (even one for the vegans!), cured saucisson, and all the accompaniments. PLUS this present gives the lucky recipient a gorgeous stash of appetizers to pull out as guests wander in and out over the holiday weeks.
Gift for the Cheese Lovers
There are certain food gifts I find very hard to part with, and so ordering them online and having them sent is a very helpful way for me not to get overly covetous about something I bought for someone else. Anything involving cheese falls squarely into this category. I happen to be in the Murray’s Cheese Shop neighborhood often, so I can satisfy my cheese urges, but still I will need to order this and have it send directly from the shop to my sister’s family lest it looks like a little mouse got to the package before it arrived. This particular gift assort contains a quartet of American artisan cheeses like Point Reyes Bay Blue and Uplands Cheese Company Pleasant Ridge Reserve, fine La Quercia Prosciutto, plus Murray’s Cranberry Jam, assorted crackers and more.
Gift for the Popcorn Fanatics
Amish Country Variety Gift Box. Movie nights will never be the same once this Amish Country Variety Gift Box arrives on the doorstep. 8 varieties of popcorn, plus oil and salt, will make every pot of popcorn a new experience. Or take it one step further and send a variety of the kernels in a kit along with the Whirley Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper. My family loves popcorn of all kinds, but there is always something very special about the stovetop variety (even though we make a pot almost every night – it just never gets old).
Gifts for the Family That Cooks
McCormick Gourmet Three Tier 24 Piece Organic Spice Rack. A full slate of spices for the family who loves to roll up their sleeves in the kitchen. Often people skip making a new recipes because they don’t have a particular herb or spice – this will remove that obstacle! This is a good one for families who cook and want to expand their cooking horizons. Or for more experienced cooking families, go for something like Gourmet World Flavors Seasoning Collection, or Penzey’s Heart and Soul Box, with a bunch of classic American blends, or the Chef’s Daughter World Traveler Gift Collection Travel Spice Kit with 12 artisanal spice blends. If they are into a particular cuisine you might stock up their spice pantry in that area, with the Indian Spices Set From Simply Organic, for instance, or the The Kitchen IMP North African Spice Sampler Set.
Gift for the Hot Chocolate Aficionados
Hot Chocolate Sampler from Williams Sonoma. What would be nicer to know is in the pantry? A combo of hot chocolates (classic, peppermint, and vanilla with marshmallows) just never misses as a family gift, and hey, maybe a few Marshmallow Snowmen? And what about a whipped cream maker to gild the lily? As I frequently say, who doesn’t like their lily gilded.
